Russian troops are stopped 70 km from Kyiv – the Armed Forces reports.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped russian troops at a distance of up to 70 km from Kyiv on the right bank of the Dnieper.

This was stated today at a briefing by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Command of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Alexander Gruzevich.

He reminded that the capture of Kyiv is one of the most important strategic tasks for russia. Moscow planned to carry out a blitzkrieg and then dictate its terms.

– But the plan failed. Kyiv, as planned by the occupiers, did not surrender in three days, – said Gruzevych.

He added that the Ukrainian army completely thwarted the enemy’s plans. Thus, on the right bank of the Dnieper, russian troops were pushed back for 70 km, could not pass further and refused to take offensive action.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine is currently carrying out the same work on the left bank of the river.

– Today on the right bank of the river (Dnieper, – Ed.) The enemy is stopped almost 70 km, and the strip of the outer ring is expanded to 70 km, which makes it impossible to fire, except for missiles, in our capital. On the left bank we have a small advance, but now we have eliminated it. So you can rest easy. But the enemy has switched to another tactic – cynically shooting at our infrastructure, – said the general.

He also informed that every city on the outskirts of the capital of Ukraine is preparing as a knot of resistance. According to Gruzevych, the command goes around Kyiv and Kyiv region every day, checks the state of readiness.

– And I can assure you that the enemy will not go further. It will be stopped. All communities unanimously declare that they will not miss the enemy, – the general assured.

He noted that a group of troops had been set up to defend Kyiv and the region. Its number has almost tripled due to territorial defense, citizens who join the defense of the country.

Currently, two circles of defense have been created, and work is underway to strengthen the third (far) circle.

– Created two circles of defense, in which the enemy is stopped and has no success. In some areas, namely Brovarsky and Boryspil, the enemy refused to take active offensive action at all… Now we are working to strengthen the third, far, circle, – said Gruzevych.

The brigadier general clarified that Kyiv was prepared as a single point of resistance. The same measures are being taken in the region.

Gruzevych also informed that there is an effective air defense system around the capital. In the last few days alone, two planes, one helicopter and more than six missiles have been shot down. According to the general, there are two directions from which the enemy strikes missiles: from the Black Sea and from Belarus.

Oleksandr Gruzevych urged citizens not to ignore air alarm signals and hide in a shelter.
