During one stage of the evacuation, the russians killed three Ukrainian soldiers.
All women, children and elderly people hiding from enemy shelling were taken out of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, which was besieged and destroyed by the russians, said Reintegration Minister Iryna Vereshchuk.
“The president’s order has been carried out: all women, children and the elderly have been evacuated from Azovstal. This part of the Mariupol humanitarian operation has been completed”, – she wrote on Facebook on Saturday evening, May 7.
At the same time, according to the Azov Regiment, whose fighters are heroically defending Mariupol and preventing the russians from breaking into Azovstal, three Ukrainian servicemen were killed and six others were wounded during the evacuation of civilian invaders.
“Yesterday [May 6], three servicemen were killed and six were seriously injured during the evacuation of civilians from the plant. One died from ATGM, getting into an evacuation vehicle. Two were killed by bombs dropped by UAVs”, – the Azov Regiment told Ukrainian Pravda on May 7.
It will be recalled that several hundred Mariupol civilians hid in Azovstal bunkers from Russian shelling. Some people have been there since February 25. All this time they did not go outside, they had problems with food.
The first stage of evacuation of civilians from Azovstal became known on May 1. In total, the evacuation consisted of four stages and was facilitated by the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The evacuees are being taken to Zaporizhia.
As for the unblocking of Ukrainian soldiers from Azovstal, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, influential international mediators have been involved in the relevant talks.
