“Attempts to storm the plant continue for the second day. “russian troops are already on the territory of Azovstal,” – he said.
Also, according to the operative information of the General Staff, as of 18:00 on May 4, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone.
“The command of the russian troops is trying to increase the pace of the offensive in eastern Ukraine in order to reach the administrative borders of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as to develop an offensive in the Zaporozhye and Kryvyi Rih areas,” – the agency said.
To do this, the enemy is trying to inflict losses on units of the Defense Forces, regrouping and strengthening its troops, increasing the system of fire damage and logistics. The enemy also intensified missile and bomb strikes in order to destroy Ukraine’s transport infrastructure.
It will be recalled that earlier today the mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko announced that he had lost contact with Azovstal defenders. He noted that the fighting is currently taking place on the territory of Azovstal, where civilians are together with the military.
